WHO WE ARE: CALYPSO

I started my life, serving my country, as a humble USPS special delivery truck.  After thirteen years, they retired me to the yard. That’s where my partner Robbie found me, and promised me an exciting new beginning filled with adventure, travel and new people to meet. READ MORE

Who We Are:  Robbie

We are Colorado's First and Only Yarn & Tie Dye Truck!

Robbie has this vision for a vacation-like retail experience for you.  To get there you need only envision unique, fun, tie-dye arts and yarns primarily made up of natural fibers, US-sourced, spun and dyed, where possible, and luxury fibers from around the world.

Robbie incorporates socially conscious companies in her offerings, with an eye toward women-owned, and companies that create opportunities for women to earn incomes to support their families, in safe and socially acceptable ways.

We support one another.

As socially aware beings, we can all feel good about putting “our money where our heart is” by purchasing these hand-crafted, hand-dyed, responsibly sourced items, that help communities thrive.  With every purchase you are helping to keep our neighbors in business doing the important work they love.

After four successful years as co-owner of North Denver’s Tea For Ewe, Robbie invites you to help her “take it to the streets” with Calypso In Color, an eclectic mix of natural-fiber yarns, and tie-dye apparel.

Robbie has been crafty almost all of her life.

As a teenager in San Diego, Robbie learned to knit and crochet from a neighborhood friend (who would much later become her sister-in-law).  She later learned to spin wool at the fantastic Denver craft store, Sky Loom Fibers (sadly, long since closed.)

When Robbie moved back to California in the 1990's, she was looking for a spinning group, and she happened upon the San Diego Weaver’s Guild.  She became a member and learned to weave at UC San Diego.

Now back in Colorado, a few years ago for her birthday several good friends took Robbie to Santa Fe, NM and hooked her up with a batik class. Robbie loved the control of the wax resist, and the way the silk fabric took the dye. She came home and created many batik scarves, T-Shirts, and baby items. And since she had the T-shirts and dye…  she (of course) taught herself the art of tie dye.

The result of this crafty life is an exploration in color and fabric manifested in Robbie's latest business adventure.
